Island connect Programme

Istraživanje Mallorca, Španjolska/Mallorca, Spain 2025.

In June 2025, a member of the Prostorne Taktike team participated in the Island Connect program, which centers its research on interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of creative processes through co-creation in an island context. The ten-day residency, held in Sineu, Mallorca, was dedicated to intensive research, critical spatial debate, and the generation of new concepts within an international team of creators. The program demanded a high level of engagement and commitment, facilitating a profound understanding of the unique cultural and spatial dynamics of the island.

The working methodology was built upon a continuous dialogue between outdoor exploration and indoor studio sessions. Through field mapping, direct experiences, and experimental interventions in the environment, the participants aimed to decipher the complex layers of the local context of Mallorca. Under the expert guidance of mentors Roberto Magro and Biel Jordà, these spatial insights were translated into “scenic events” presented to the public at Cinesineu. This format deliberately moved away from traditional performance structures, focusing instead on showcasing the research process and the immediate reactions to the observed spatial and social phenomena.

The residency in Mallorca offered a significant opportunity for the thorough exploration of the island’s landscape and its specific micro-locations, further strengthening professional expertise in sensitive Mediterranean ecosystems. By blending rigorous creative work with the investigation of indigenous identity, the program facilitated the development of new perspectives on the relationship between architecture, scenic expression, and the natural environment. Participation in such international programs is essential for fostering innovative approaches to spatial planning and revitalization, promoting knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary action at a European level.
